LUIS HOTEL

Aalen 2025

Two historic buildings in the centre of Aalen – a representative structure from the 17th century and a post-war building – merge into a single ensemble, unified in both function and design. Connected on the ground and mezzanine floors, the Boutique Hotel Luis extends across both buildings with 18 individually shaped rooms and studios. Only the newer building section has a lift, providing access to the barrier-free rooms.

No two floor plans are alike – a starting point that called for a design concept both consistent and flexible. Three colour schemes – blue, yellow and green – run through built-in furniture, loose furniture and accessories such as mirrors, coat hooks and cushions, as well as through the coloured tiles and grouting in the bathrooms, complemented by neutral tones for walls, ceilings and floors. A free-standing steel frame with MDF inserts was developed in two sizes to adapt to different room configurations. A vividly coloured stool can be easily moved and doubles as a nightstand when needed.

Newly inserted oak walls, doors and built-in furniture, combined with countertops in local natural stone, create a warm yet restrained atmosphere – reflecting the clients’ wish for an individual, characterful boutique hotel in their home town.
