Penthouse BOE11

Berlin 2024

On the roof of a former Berlin manufacturing building, the light-flooded penthouse BOE11 was converted over an area of about 120 square meters. The material concept is as simple as it is valuable and timeless. An existing herringbone parquet floor was sanded down and reused. The room box made of oak organizes the spacious kitchen and living area and includes a small guest bathroom in addition to plenty of storage space. Partially, the solid wooden constructions on the kitchen side are covered with Alucobond, which provides a factual contrast to the warmth of the wood. Special attention is given to the kitchen block, which separates the kitchen as a matte black monolith from the living and dining area. To integrate the hallway and entrance area into the material language and provide ample light, a partition wall made of oak frames and Estriado glass was placed between the study and guest room along the central hallway axis. All wall and ceiling surfaces, as well as window frames and doors, were painted in a warm white tone. Both bathrooms were equipped with handmade Zellige tiles, and the floors were made from a seamless cast floor with a concrete-like appearance. Discreet spotlights and recessed lights complement the interior design. In interaction, they create a calm and cozy living atmosphere.
