Bruzkus Batek Office

Berlin 2014

A 19th century former chocolate factory, reimagined as office space with an adjoining furniture showroom.
Ester Bruzkus and Patrick Batek, a successful Berlin architectural partnership from 2012 to 2017, shaped their offices from a storey of the historic building, with a “Kappendecke” (Brick vaulting with a metal frame) ceiling retaining the industrial flavour, the work areas, kitchen, meeting, and utility rooms are clearly divided by an angular structure running through the interior. The unifying element is a long partition wall of cellular polycarbonate panel. The impressive, bespoke kitchen table evolved as the natural centerpiece.
