HR16 Penthouse

Berlin 2021

The existing architectural features served as a source of inspiration for the new design of the penthouse of our project HR16. Hence, elements that establish a connection to the original design by Bernd Driessen Architekten can be found all over the penthouse. Just like it is the case with the acacia wood that was part of the original kitchen. It was revised in form of wall cladding and inbuilt furniture pieces in the whole apartment. The rich texturized acacia wood contributes to a particular warmth in the apartment and further serves as a backdrop for the extensive art collection of the owner. The wood was combined with a coherent choice of colors, textures, and materials.
Particularly impressive is the ‘Tapetenzimmer’, which was covered with the striking wallpaper ‘Blossom’ by the artist Thomas Demand. The depth of the wallpaper in combination with the dark acacia wood, shiny lacquered surfaces in dove blue and mustard yellow create an arresting and expressive space.
